Training of Experts – Gender-Sensitive Value Chain Analysis

The Gender Alliance for Development Center (GADC) recently organized a two-day training for experts on gender-sensitive value chain analysis. The training, held on March 24-25, 2023, was part of the project "Women's Economic Empowerment through Gender Sensitive Value Chain Interventions" supported by the Gender Equity and Equality Action (GEEA) Fund of the Department of State.

The purpose of the project is to empower women entrepreneurs in the Municipality of Tirana and to prepare a group of experts as future trainers and experts in gender-sensitive value chain analysis. This project will not only enable women to take more active roles in Albanian society, but will also help experts in conducting training sessions and gender analyses within the territory of the Municipality of Tirana.

The training of experts was carried out by Mrs. Anna Lentink, an international expert in gender-sensitive value chain analysis. Participants gained solid knowledge on the Gender-Sensitive Value Chain Analysis (GSVCA) methodology, discussed the topic of the business value chain and the gender perspective, and improved their knowledge of the challenges faced by women in business, including challenges due to Covid-19 and climate change. The participants also shared new ideas on overcoming the obstacles faced by businesses and prepared a plan for the GSVCA analysis to be carried out.

The main goal of this project is to empower various women entrepreneurs who have been beneficiaries of grants distributed by the municipality over the past 4 years, as well as women who do business within the Municipality of Tirana. This training helped promote the project "Women's Economic Empowerment through Gender Sensitive Value Chain Interventions" and exchange information on the main activities of the project and the timeline on the methodology of the gender sensitive value chain project.

The Gender Alliance for Development Center (GADC) believes that empowering women entrepreneurs is essential for economic development and gender equality. The center will continue to organize similar training programs in order to enable the participation of more women entrepreneurs in the economic growth of the Municipality of Tirana.
