On 17th and 18th September 2013, Gender Alliance for Development Centre organized a two days training on "Basic concepts on gender equality for local governance" with the staff of Kuçova and Puka Municipality, in a conference room of Hotel "Luna" in Tirana. The training was conducted under the framework of the project: "Gender action plan design in the Municipality of Kuçova and Puka" financed by Soros Foundation in Albania. Most of the participants were working in the Municipalities but there were also representatives of other institutions such as health sector, education, civil society etc, especially from Puka. All participants were very active and showed a lot of interest exploring the practical application of the information discussed during both days of the training. They stated they were a lot interested on how to implement the actual laws and other initiatives in their everyday work. One of the key issues discussed form both municipalities was the fact that they were not properly and nor in time presented with the legislations or other initiatives from the central government. Some of them stated that sometimes they have difficulties applying the laws not only because they are not trained at all when a new law is approved but they do not have help from authorities in the process.
