We invite you to joinus in forcing global attention upon the epidemic of gender-based violence. Today, one of every three women on the planet will be raped or beaten in her lifetime. That is ONE BILLION mothers, daughters, sisters, partners, and friends. Yet, most of the world remains silent and indifferent. The time has come to put a stop to the violence, and to the silence that surrounds it.

Communication on the establishment of AL-GRAD net

Tirana, 14 December 2012 - Representatives of nine civil society organizations operating throughout the territory of Albania launched the Albanian Network for Gender Agenda Empowerment in Rural Development, AL-GARD NET.
The AL-GARD NET Vision is for women in rural areas to have a strong and equal voice in the decision making, entrepreneurship as well as in all social and integrating processes of the country.
The Mission of AL-GARD NET is to promote mainstreaming of gender agenda and to contribute to women empowerment in rural areas. The Network activities will ensure that women, particularly women in the rural areas, will have greater control over their own lives, key issues and exercise their rights and opportunities to participate in local, national and regional policy making processes to address their legal, economic and social independence

Round Table - National Meeting of Civil Society in the framework of the Riview of Electoral Code, related the Women Participation in Politics

TOWARDS A NATIONAL PATFORM FOR PROTECTION OF RIGHTS OF WOMEN AND GIRLS IN THE WORKPLACE

We, the participants of the public debate “Rights of women and girls in the workplace” organised by 15 civil society groups in Albania, gathered in Tirana on September 28th 2011, hereby state the following:

• We are deeply concerned of the fact the that violence against women and girls remains a serious national concern in Albania and the extreme crimes against women still exist, whereas many of the perpetrators who commit such crimes, are neitherstanding at the bar nor convicted.

• Physical violence against women and girls in the workplace, mostly when exercised by public officials is intolerable, unacceptable and it constitutesa serious violation of their rights guaranteed by the domestic legislation and international acts ratified by the Albanian state.
